The goal of the Colorado Field Hockey Association Recreation League is to provide field hockey playing opportunities for youth within the front-range area of Colorado. This recreational league is a convenient and inexpensive means for players to maintain and develop their field hockey skills during the winter. It is our ambition to provide players with a fun playing opportunity that allows them to build on their skills while developing friendships with players from different schools and different levels.

The league will be held at Gates Field House of the Ritchie Center at Denver University. The surface is most similar to regulation indoor and the courts have walls and regulation sized indoor cages. The league will consist of 8 teams of 10 players. Teams will compete each week against a different opponent in games that are 1 hour. Teams will rotate each week the hour they play and the opponent. Coaches will facilitate the games including ensuring substitutions, strategy, and officiating.

Players will be allowed to select 5 other players with whom they would like to play on the same team. When making selections one should consider carpooling and parents schedule also. Teams will probably have players from 1-2 schools due to differences in numbers. Teams will be set up prior to the first day of the league with team confirmation being the first day of league (November 8th).

We will be competing in 3 mini tournaments against the Colorado Springs youth program. The first will be Saturday December 13th in Colorado Springs (time to be announced) and the second will be Saturday Jan 31st at the Sports Dome (time to be announced). These will include teams of 15 representing Denver and will be played on full turf fields. The last will be March 21st at the Sports Dome (time to be announced). There is no added cost for the mini-tournaments further information regarding these will be provided by November 8th.
